Cook Time 14 minutes
Servings 12 breadsticks

Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 3 cups flour all-purpose
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter melted

For the topping

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions

  • Activate the yeast – In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
Make the dough – In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the melted butter and yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough – Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 8 minutes until smooth.
Let it rise – Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Shape the breadsticks – Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 7-inch log and place them on a lined baking sheet.
Second rise – Cover and let them rise again for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 400°F.
Bake – Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until golden brown.
Add the topping – While warm, brush the breadsticks with melted butter and sprinkle garlic powder and salt on top.
